It’s with a heavy heart that we have to inform you of the loss of our founder John Alan this past Friday morning.
John spent his life loving radio and and everything about it. From his youngest days of running wires from house to house to his days in Muskegon at WMUS and 105.3 not to mention Super Q and then working in Houston at one of the nations most revered rock radio stations, KLOL. He was a survivor in an ever shrinking business and when he “retired” from the day to day of working for someone, John knew that he couldn’t sit still… so in the back of his garage he formed Real Gold Radio. It was his passion, it was his enjoyment and it was his dream to build, own and operate his own station since he was a boy, and he sure did it!
John was kind, loving, jovial and above all….he was larger than life with his rich heritage in West Michigan radio and his travels to work at stations in other cities. John also was insistent that he wanted to do radio the best way he could and that was to serve the community. It’s a passion we all intend to carry on.
There will be a memorial service scheduled in the near future for John, and we ask at this time that you keep a thought and prayer for those he left behind. John was remarkably proud of our area, his role in the broadcast community, and John has left a lasting mark on everyone.
Thank you John from all of us at Real Gold Radio. We’ll carry on in your honor and memory.
